    • 02/06/2012 - Suffolk Closed Championship
      Two Clacton players were entered into the Suffolk Closed Championship. Melvin Steele won the intermediate section.

      Melvin also was also 'Suffolk Division 2 Player of the Year'.

    • 15/05/2012 - 19/06/2012 Clacton Club Championship
      ALL Club members are encouraged to enter, so please try to be there.
      The format is 2 rounds held per evening over 5 evenings. Members enter up to 8 games.
      (giving some allowance for those who have holiday booked in this period)
      Swiss pairings (subject to sufficient numbers, otherwise all play all)
      Any player present but not paired to have a full point bye.
      Handicap/Timings: Total clock time of 80 minutes per game.
      Time is split in inverse proportion to players current grades.

    • 08/05/2012 - NECL division 1 - Clacton A drew 2 - 2 with Chelmsford A
      Melvin steele obtained a win, whilst Andrew Salmon and David Pearce were held to draws.
      All results for the season are now completed.
      Clacton A end the season in 7th place (out of 10) in division 1, as do Clacton B in division 2.
      With Clacton C coming 2nd in division 3, we will have no relegations or promotions.
      The club championship will now run with 2 rounds per evening over 5 weeks.
      All members are encouraged to participate. (see above for details)
    • 01/05/2012 - NECL division 1 - Clacton A defeated 1 - 3 by Writtle B
      Clacton's point came from a win by David Pearce.
    • 25/04/2012 - NECL division 1 - Clacton A draw 2-2 against Witham A
      Peter Keffler obtained a win, whilst Andrew Salmon and David Pearce were held to draws.
      Before this result, both teams, along with Colchester A and Braintree A were all on 4 match points at the bottom of the division.
      Braintree A, who have played all of their matches and have the lowest board points, are now the candidates for relegation.
      Clacton A still have two more matches to play.
    • 24/04/2012 - NECL division 2 - Clacton B draw 2 - 2 with Billericay A
      Clacton B were outgraded on every board so a win by Martin Alvin and draws from Kyriakos Chovardas and David Welsh was a good result.
      All games have now been played in this division and Clacton B ended the season on 7 match points and positioned 7th out of 10.
    • 24/04/2012 - Suffolk league division 2 - Clacton win 4-0 by default against Woodbridge School
      This was the last match of the season fror Clacton who have ended in second place in the division on 24 board points.
      This is just half a point behind leaders Manningtree who ended on 24½ (despite losing more matches than Clacton).
    • 17/04/2012 - Suffolk Under 145 Knockout Final - Won by Ipswich. Clacton beaten ½-3½
      A draw from David Pearce avoided a whitewash result for Clacton.
    • 10/04/2012 - NECL division 3 - Clacton C win 3½ - ½ against Brentwood D
      Wins by Andrew Todd, Paul Eustace, Mike Coughtrey and a draw by Nigel Lake secured this last match of the season.
      Witham B narrowly ended top of this division with 13 match points, the same as Clacton C.
      Clacton C's very close second place being decided by their 22½ total game points, to Witham B's 23.
    • 02/04/2012 - NECL division 2 - Dunmow beat Clacton B, 2½-1½
      Mike Coughtrey obtained Clacton's only board win and John Lambert was held to a draw.
    • 05/04/2012 - NECL division 3 - Chelmsford D win 3 - 1 against Clacton C
      Paul Eustace obtained Clacton's only board win.
    • 27/03/2012 - Suffolk league division 2 - Saxmundham A beat Clacton, 2½-1½
      Melvin Steele had a win and Mike Coughtrey was held to a draw.
      Clacton now have 20 games points this season and are second to leaders Manningtree who have 23.
      Both teams have just one more match to play.
    • 21/03/2012 - NECL division 2 - Brentwood B beat Clacton B, 3-1
      Melvin Steele and Andrew Todd obtained draws.
      Brentwood outgraded Clacton by an average of 24 points per board and are currently top of this division on 15 points.
    • 20/03/2012 - NECL division 1 - Clacton A take 1½-2½ home loss against Maldon A
      Andrew Salmon, David Pearce and John Lambert all obtained draws.
    • 13/03/2012 - NECL division 3 - Clacton C beaten 1½-2½ at home to Chelmsford C
      Mike Coughtrey got Clacton's only board win and Kyriakos Chovardas was held to a draw.
    • 06/03/2012 - Suffolk Under 145 Knockout - 3½-½ home victory for Clacton against Felixstowe
      Robert Stephens, Peter Keffler and Kyriakos Chovardas had wins for Claton and Melvin Steele obtained a draw.
      Clacton now go forward to play Ipswich in the final.
    • 29/02/2012 - NECL division 2 - Billericay B win 2½-1½ against Clacton B
      Mike Coughtrey got Clacton's only board win and John Lambert obtained a draw.
    • 28/02/2012 - NECL division 1 - Clacton A get 2½-1½ home win against Braintree A
      Clacton's points came from a win by Peter Keffler and draws by Phillip Hutchins, Andrew Salmon and John Lambert.
    • 21/02/2012 - Suffolk league division 2 - Clacton get 2½-1½ home win against Manningtree
      Martin Alvin and Melvin Steele had wins and Peter Keffler obtained a draw.
    • 21/02/2012 - NECL division 3 - Clacton C draw 2-2 at home to Witham B
      Clacton points came from a win by Nigel Lake and draws by Kyriakos Chovardas and Mike Coughtrey.
    • 14/02/2012 - NECL division 1 - Clacton A beaten 3-1 at home to Colchester A
      Clacton's point came from draws by Andrew Salmon and John Lambert.
    • 31/01/2012 - Suffolk Under 145 Knockout - 3-1 home victory for Clacton against Manningtree
      Clacton's points came from wins by Peter Keffler, Melvin Steele and Kyriakos Chovardas.
      Clacton now go forward to the semi-final to play Felixstowe.
    • 31/01/2012 - Suffolk Under 125 Knockout - Stowmarket beat Clacton 3-1
      The Clacton point was from draws by David Welsh and Paul Eustace.
    • 30/12/2012 - NECL division 1 - Baddow A win 3½ - ½ over Clacton A
      Clacton were under-strength and had to default a board against the strong Boddow side.
      Their half point came from a draw by Andrew Salmon.
    • 24/01/2012 - NECL division 2 - Clacton B win 4-0 against Chelmsford B
      The Chelmsford team had last minute problems, causing them to default the match.
    • 18/01/2012 - NECL Plate Semi Final - CRGS draw 2-2 with Clacton A
      David Pearce and David Welsh producd wins for Clacton.
      However, the grammar school wins were on the top two boards so they now go through to the final against Chelmsford B.
    • 17/01/2012 - Suffolk league division 2 - Clacton win 2½-1½ against Stowmarket
      Clacton's points came from wins by Martin Alvin and Melvin Steele and a draw by David Pearce.
    • 11/01/2012 - NECL division 2 - Braintree B win 3½-½ against Clacton B
      It was a draw from Andrew Todd that saved Clacton from a whitewash.
    • 10/01/2012 - NECL division 3 - Clacton C beat Wethersfield 3 - ½
      Clacton wins came from Andrew Todd, Mike Coughtrey and Nigel Lake.
    • 03/01/2012 - Suffolk league division 2 - Adastral draw 2-2 with Clacton
      Peter Keffler and John Lambert produced the board wins for Clacton.
    • 13/12/2011 - NECL division 2 - Clacton B beaten 1-3 at home against Colchester B
      Clacton managed draws from Melvin Steele and Mike Coughtrey.
      The club is now closed for Xmas and re-opens Tuesday January 10th.
    • 06/12/2011 - NECL Plate - Clacton A beat Chelmsford C 3½-½
      In round 2 of the NECL Knockout Plate, Clacton A had a comfortable win over the Chelmsford C team.
      Clacton's points came from board wins by Peter Keffler, David Pearce and Andrew Todd while Andrew Salmon was held to a draw. Clacton A will now go forward into round 3.
    • 06/12/2011 - NECL Plate - Clacton B were beaten 1½-2½ by Braintree B
      In round 2 of the NECL Knockout Plate, Clacton B had a tough match against the Braintree B team.
      Clacton's only board win came from Melvin Steele and John Lambert obtained a draw.
    • 29/11/2011 - Suffolk league division 2 - Clacton draw 2-2 with Saxmunham
      Melvin Steele obtained a win while Peter Keffler and John Lambert produced draws.
    • 22/11/2011 - NECL division 2 - Clacton B beat Brentwood C 3 - 1
      Melvin Steele and David Welsh produced board wins while Martin Alvin and John Lambert obtained draws.
    • 21/11/2011 - NECL division 3 - Baddow B defeated 1-3 by Clacton C
      The board wins for Clacton were scored by Andrew Todd, Mike Coughtrey and Nigel Lake.
      Clacton C are currently top of this division with 100% match points after 4 of the 9 games they will play this season.
    • 16/11/2011 - NECL division 3 - Colchester C defeated 1-3 by Clacton C
      Clacton wins came from Paul Eustace and Nigel Lake, while Andrew Todd and Mike Coughtrey managed draws.
    • 16/11/2011 - NECL division 1 - Writtle A win 3½ - ½ over Clacton A
      Writtle A are the strongest team in the league this season, and currently top of division 1.
      With a daunting average ECF grade of 172, they easily outgraded Clacton A by an average of 33 grading points per board.
      However, David Pearce had a very good result and saved a possible whitewash by obtaining a draw.
    • 15/11/2011 - NECL division 2 - Clacton B beat Maldon B 2½ - 1½
      Kiriakos Chovardas and Mike Coughtrey produced board wins and Martin Alvin was held to a draw.
    • 07/11/2011 - Suffolk league division 2 - Woodbridge defeated by Clacton
      Woodbridge School were defeated 1-3 by Clacton.
      Dave Pearce, John Lambert and Melvin Steele obtained board wins.
    • 01/11/2011 - Suffolk league division 2 - Stowmarket defeated by Clacton
      Stowmarket were defeated 1½-2½ by Clacton.
      John Lambert and Melvin Steele obtained board wins and David Pearce managed a draw.
    • 26/10/2011 - Suffolk league division 2 - Manningtree draw 2-2 with Clacton
      Clacton held Manningtree to a draw with a board win by Melvin Steele and draws from David Pearce and John Lambert.
    • 18/10/2011 - NECL division 3 - Clacton C beat Braintree C 2½ - 1½
      Clacton wins came from Mike Coughtrey and Nigel Lake while Paul Eustace managed a draw.
    • 12/10/2011 - NECL knockout - Brentwood A draw 2-2 with Clacton A
      In round 1 of the NECL Knockout, Clacton A were held to a draw against the Brentwood A team.
      John Lambert produced Clacton's only board win whilst Andrew Salmon and David Pearce obtained draws.
      After botton board eliminations Brentwood A were declared the winners and go through to round 2.
      Clacton A will go into the Plate competition.
    • 11/10/2011 - NECL knockout - Clacton B loose 1-3 at home to Maldon B
      In round 1 of the NECL Knockout, Clacton B were beaten at home by the Maldon B team.
      Clacton's new player, Kiriakos Chovardas produced their only board win.
      Maldon B go through to round 2 and Clacton B will go into the Plate competition.
    • 06/10/2011 - NECL division 1 - Brentwood A beaten 1½ - 2½ by Clacton A
      The first NECL match of the new season for Clacton A produced a surprise win against the Brentwood A team.
      David Pearce and John Lambert obtained wins and Andrew Salmon was held to a draw.
    • 05/10/2011 - NECL division 3 - Colchester Royal Grammar School beaten 0 - 3 by Clacton C
      This first NECL match of the new season for Clacton C resulted in a hollow victory against CRGS.
      Clacton had to default one board due to a last minute player illness and Nigel Lake got Clacton's only played win.
      The normal result would have been 3-1 to CRGS, but the games had to be friendlies because the CRGS players were unregistered.
      Due to this technicality, the official result had to be a 0-3 win to Clacton C.
    • 20/09/2011 - Suffolk league division 2 - Clacton draw 2-2 with Adastral
      In this first match of the new season, Clacton held Adastral to a draw,
      with a board win by Melvin Steele and draws from Peter Keffler and Martin Alvin.
    • 23/08/2011 - Early Start for New Season!
      Please note that the club will re-open for the new season on Tuesday 6th September, from 7:30pm at the usual venue, Holland Public Hall, Frinton Road, Holland on Sea. Newcomers are very welcome and we need more team players at all levels, so please come along. This date replaces the previously advertised date as we need to discuss/confirm nominal teams for new fixtures, and other matters, so it is important that members attend. If you cannot attend please contact John to confirm future availability.
